Great footbed with a wide toebox unlike Solomons. I wish the gray color was not on the mid black variant. Waterproof version would be nice.

I absolutely love my Legacy boots. They’re the perfect hybrid of a traditional boot and athletic shoe. I wear them all the time. I especially like the heel area. It’s more comfortable than a lot of other boots I own. Highly recommend!

First fit felt amazing! They look great, feel amazing with the ortho lite insole. A MUST BUY
Initial thoughts were very positive. The shoes felt well put together, lightweight, and fairly rugged. The laces are thin and I feel I'll be replacing them soon upon failure, but we'll see how they fare.
Overall the shoe looks like and clean without catching attention. It fit in great in an office setting and also blends in well out in the field. It also breathes well on the last few hot days I've had. The grip of the shoe is also surprisingly strong yet nice. Walking on tile and hardwood floors doesn't have a "knocking" type sound. It's very quiet with a low pitched "thud" at most.
I toggled between size 11 and 11.5, 11 being my normal shoe size. My toes and heels were both making strong contact to the front and back of the shoe, so I stuck with size 11.5.
Standing felt great, with good foot support and an adequate foot box. I noticed the heels were ever so slightly elevated in comparison to the toes. Upon walking, my toes began feeling bunched up against the front of the shoe. I tried adjusting the shoe, tightening the laces but it continued. I then tried various brands and thicknesses of socks all to no avail. I'm not trying various insoles. But it seems that no matter what after a handful of steps, I notice my toes are being pushed to the front of the shoe.
It's only been a few days, but at this point I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the shoe. I had high hopes, but the shoe definitely isn't meeting my expectation at this point in time.
We appreciate the detailed feedback. The ALTAMA® Legacy does fit differently than our traditional tactical footwear by design, with a more athletic platform built for dynamic movement and natural foot splay under load. That said, your toes shouldn’t be getting driven into the front of the shoe once you start moving. It sounds like going up another half size may give you the room you need, and our Customer Service team will be reaching out to help with a size change.
You also called out something we’ve already addressed. Based on early field feedback, we made a rolling factory change to a stronger, more durable lace, and all new Legacy production now features the updated lacing system. We’ll make sure we get a set of those headed your way as well.

I have waited to write this review on here and on Amazon until I heard from Original...I have not gotten a reply yet so here we go!
I want to clarify; I ordered off Amazon through a 3rd party seller as the Altama website had the desired choices out of stock. I wanted the black mids in a size 8.5 for work, I ordered two because I know I am hard on my footwear, and received them on August 11th. Now, I work as a public school security guard, not actual law enforcement, but akin to a foot patrol officer Monday through Friday, 8.5 hours a day, pushing 8 miles a day on concrete and tile floors. Not under heavy load either, as I weigh about 165 and only have 20-25 pounds of equipment on.
I was excited upon delivery, as I have been looking for something more like a barefoot athletic shoe or a while...but my concerns popped up almost immediately.
1. They sold these as having a wide footbed (I have narrow feet) but my toes felt more cramped than they did in my combat boots issued in boot camp, causing all sorts of sores and friction spots up front.
2. The laces were to thin and not comfortable at all when tightened and tucked into the elastic pocket. They also broke fairly fast and I had to replace with regular laces.
3. They offer no support. I have relatively flat feet, and even though I wear barefoot shoes for workouts and everyday, these caused so much pain in the soles of my feet, I had to start soaking my feet in hot water to recover everyday after work. Switched the sole to a more solid pair and mostly fixed this.
4. The biggest issue was durability. I ended up returning one pair that I did not open or modify, and a few days after that, I was looking down at work and noticed the sole had begun to separate from the shoe at the bend of the toes on both! Too say I was upset would be an understatement. This was after only wearing them 5 days a week, for 8.5 hours a day...
I was excited for these as i have worn several other pairs of Original Footwear boots for years now with no issue. I hate to say it, but this will be the first series, I do not see myself purchasing again.
Thank you for laying this out in detail. Eight miles a day on concrete and tile is real mileage, and while the ALTAMA® Legacy was built as a lightweight tactical trainer, what you’re describing—especially sole separation that early—is not the service life we expect from it.
A couple points are worth addressing. The Legacy has a roomier forefoot than many traditional tactical boots to allow natural foot splay during movement, but every foot is different, and it sounds like this last simply didn’t agree with yours. The removable footbed also allows operators to swap in the support that works best for their individual needs, as you ultimately did.
On the laces: we heard that feedback from the field and acted on it. Legacy production has undergone a rolling change from the original lightweight hollow-core lacing to a stronger full-cord system with a more robust center connection.
The outsole separation, however, is something we want to see. Five weeks of duty use should not produce the failure you described. Since these were purchased through a third-party Amazon seller, there are some additional variables for us to sort through, but we still want to understand what happened.
