The initial fit was a bit much, understandably the material was brand new but it did chafe eventually. Prior to getting a good fit, I was wearing them "dry", as in just wearing them around, not really putting them through the rigors. But as soon as I got them soaked through and they had a chance to dry, they fit pretty well. Still a bit of an issue with chafing at the back of the heel ,but again, understandable for there is a good amount of material to the 8 inch version. All around good foot wear, just a little bit of a time to break them in, at least for me. Definitely recommend if you have an occupation that requires you to basically dive into mud (Waterjets require cleaning sometimes)
Thank you for your detailed review! We're glad the Maritime 8' eventually fit comfortably and that you find them suitable for your work. Your feedback about breaking them in and chafing is helpful. Thanks for recommending us!Thank you for the detailed feedback and for putting the ALTAMA® Maritime 8' through the kind of work it was designed for.
You're absolutely right that the Maritime can feel different from traditional tactical boots during the initial break-in period. Because it's an amphibious mission boot built with durable, quick-drying materials, many users find that once the boot has been fully soaked, drained, and dried a few times, it begins to conform more naturally to their foot and settles into its stride.
We appreciate the honest feedback regarding the heel area as well. The added height and material of the 8' model can create a different feel than lower-cut footwear, particularly during the first few outings.
It's great to hear they're proving their worth in the real world—especially in the kind of wet, muddy environments where water-friendly tactical boots and quick-draining footwear earn their reputation. Waterjet maintenance definitely sounds like a mission set the Maritime was made for.
Thanks again for the recommendation and for trusting ALTAMA® on the job. Keep putting them to work.
They just werent for my feet
Very comfortable, great grip when on smooth painted surfaces, lightweight. Will be using when on a motorcycle and when on a boat.
Glad to hear they’re delivering on comfort and grip, that’s exactly what the Maritime 8” is built for. Sounds like they’ll be right at home on the bike and on the boat. Appreciate the support!
Fantastic shoe. Great quality and built to last. Only issue I’ve found is that they wont stay tied.
Glad to hear the Maritime 8' is delivering on quality and long-term durability—that’s exactly what it’s built for. On the laces, solid callout. With the Maritime’s smooth, quick-drain materials, some users find that swapping to a longer or textured lace helps keep things locked in, especially during active use.
Appreciate the feedback and the 5-star support. We’ve got your six.
Fits perfect, great for public safety scuba diving as well as everyday wear. Offers more protection than a neoprene scuba boot, yet dries 10x faster. I have 2 pair now, almost wearing them everyday!
When a boot can pull double duty—public safety scuba work and everyday wear—while offering more protection than neoprene and drying fast enough to be ready for the next call, that’s a win in our book. Knowing you trusted it enough to run a second pair and wear them almost daily tells us everything we need to know.
Appreciate the trust and the work you do. We’re proud to keep you ready, on land and underwater.
